Dealing with getting older is hard and there is really no good thing about it. There are many illnesses that a person will have to deal with and some of them are more severe than others. One of those diseases may be Alzheimer's disease. This is a terrible disease that will affect the brain cells and memory. When this type of illness affects a person, they will start to see changes in their lifestyles and how they go about their daily lives.
The effects of Alzheimer's disease are one that will not only have a toll on the patient but the family and friends as well. Many times the family will have to watch their loved on have difficulty with things that they once did so easily. They will notice small changes at first and then the bigger ones will fall into place.
Family and friends are going to be hurt by the effects of Alzheimer's disease. There is nothing that they can do about it and will have to be as supportive as possible when it comes to helping their family member or friend. For some of them, these people will become caregivers to the patient and help them with their daily living. This can be harder for some as the disease will attack their memory, which means that the patient may not recognize them, or other loved ones.
The patients of Alzheimer's disease have to deal with a lot of problems. For some they will not even notice the small changes in their own behavior and for others it will be a huge change that they will have to deal with. Some of the patients can no longer go to work, do the daily chores that they once did and remember family memories and faces like they used to.
The effects of Alzheimer's disease can cause depression, anxiety, and sometimes mood swings. This is due to the realization that they cannot control these problems and need to have help with the things that they were once able to do on their own. For the friends and family of the patients, the effects of Alzheimer's disease can be even more devastating. It is difficult to watch as loved ones forget you and cannot comprehend what is going on in real life.
This disease is one that has no cure, but researchers are coming closer everyday to finding one. There is always hope and the effects of Alzheimer's disease do not have to all been negative. For some it can bring families closer together and let them enjoy their time together while they still can.
